A Battery Management System (BMS) is technology dedicated to the oversight of a battery pack, which is an assembly of battery cells, electrically organised in a row x column matrix configuration to enable delivery of targeted range of voltage and current for a duration of time against expected load scenarios.

The inclusion of a BMS is vital in lithium battery applications to ensure safety, efficiency, and longevity.

    The V.E. Bus BMS used in conjunction with a Victron lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4 or LFP) battery will:
    * shut down or disconnect loads in case of imminent cell under voltage,
    * reduce charge current in case of imminent cell over voltage or over temperature (VE.Bus products only), and
    * shut down or disconnect battery chargers in case of imminent cell over voltage or over temperature.

    Protects 12V, 24V and 48V systems. The operating voltage range of the BMS: 9 to 70V DC.

    Communicates with all VE.Bus products, including MultiPlus, Quattro or Phoenix inverter with a standard RJ45 UTP cable.
